The creation of Shaping Sound was chronicled on the television show "All the Right Moves" on Oxygen, which brought viewers inside the lives of four of the most sought-after dancers in the industry. Shaping Sound is a collaboration of these artists and visual musicians who dreamed about creating opportunities for contemporary performers.
The full company includes Chantel Aguirre, Alexa Anderson, Joey Arigo, Channing Cooke, Teddy Forance, Jaimie Goodwin, Kayla Kalbfleisch, Nick Lazzarini, Noelle Marsch, Matthew Peacock, Kyle Robinson, Ben Susak, Chelsea Thedinga and Wall.
Shaping Sound's movement style, according to press notes, "provides audiences access to and an understanding of contemporary dance through its unique fusion of jazz, modern, ballet, and explosive hip-hop choreography. The integration of traditional technique alongside cutting-edge dance styles brings an unparalleled entertainment value to ensemble performances. With a dynamic mix of rhythm, emotion, and athleticism, audiences can expect original choreography and freestyle movements that challenges the art form."
"[My] biggest attribute to the company — and especially my choreography — is my musicality," Wall told Playbill.com "I'm not just storytelling, but it's the way I portray music. I am a musician, and I can take music and show you exactly how it sounds — either with a group of bodies or just one body. I feel like I do create music with my body and therefore, being a 'visual musician,' I make the music come to life. That's how we got the company name Shaping Sound — we're a very music-driven company. Our musicality is a focal point."
