News Shawn Elliott, Linda Larkin and Begonya Plaza Explore Teresa's Ecstasy, Opening March 14 Off-Broadway Begonya Plaza's Teresa's Ecstasy officially opens March 14 at Off-Broadway's Cherry Lane Theatre following previews that began March 4.

Directed by Will Pomerantz, the cast features playwright Plaza as well as Shawn Elliott and Linda Larkin.

"Carlotta returns to Barcelona, a stopover en route to Avila where she's researching an article on St. Teresa, a 16th century nun, there also to serve her husband Andrés with divorce papers," according to press notes. "Over a sumptuous lunch of wine and gazpacho, Andrés fights to rekindle their relationship. However, Carlotta is on a quest for the divine, and in the process of discovering the mystical Teresa’s Ecstasy, she discovers herself."

Performances will continue through April 1.

The production also features set design by Adrian W. Jones, lighting design by Scott Clyve, costume design by Suzanne Chesney and sound design by Jane Shaw. Catalan composer Albert Carbonell provides an original score. The production stage manager is Michael Alifanz.

Performances play Tuesday-Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 7 PM.

Avila Productions, LLC, by special arrangement with Cherry Lane Theatre in association with Jack Sharkey produce.
