News Shaw's Mrs. Warren's Profession Opens Shop at Alley Theatre Jan. 9 The Alley Theatre production of George Bernard Shaw's Mrs. Warren's Profession, starring Elizabeth Heflin in the title role, begins performances in Houston Jan. 9.

Anders Cato directs a cast that also includes Jane Pfitsch (Broadway's Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Company) as Mrs. Warren's daughter, Vivie. The production will continue through Feb. 1 on the Hubbard Stage.

The classic Shaw play also features James Belcher as The Rev. Samuel Gardner, John Tyson as Praed, Todd Waite as Sir George Crofts and Brandon Hearnsberger as Frank Gardner.

Alley press notes for Mrs. Warren's Profession read: "Kitty Warren has worked hard to provide the comfortable upbringing she never had for her daughter Vivie. Now that Vivie is about to embark on her own career, her mother decides that it is time for the feminist daughter to finally learn the truth about her mother’s profession."

Mrs. Warren's Profession has designs by Hugh Landwehr (scenic design), David Murin (costume design), Clifton Taylor (lighting design) and Scott Killian (original music and sound design).
