News Shine the Light Project, Underwriting Student Tickets to Through the Night, Raises Over $37,000 The Shine the Light Project, which seeks donations to underwrite student tickets to Off-Broadway's Through the Night, has raised over $37,000 in under two months, producer Daryl Roth announced Nov. 4.

The program was launched in mid-September and will provide tickets to approximately 1,500 New York-area high school students. More student groups will be selected to attend as more funds are raised. All selected groups are from local Title 1 schools, representing the area's most underserved student populations. A special student matinee of Through the Night for Shine the Light students was held Oct. 27, although student groups are welcome at any performance.

Through the Night is written and performed by Daniel Beaty and directed by Charles Randolph-Wright. It is described this way: "Six characters. Three generations. One unforgettable performance. Daniel Beaty portrays an entire cast of characters, from inquisitive boy to elder preacher, spinning a tale in which lives collide to show how hope, faith and love can pull anyone Through the Night."

Through the Night is currently playing at The Union Square Theatre, located at 100 East 17th Street. To learn more and contribute to Shine the Light, visit throughthenightonstage.com.
