News Shirley Anne Field Returns to London Stage Shirley Anne Field, best known for her film roles, is to return to the stage.

Shirley Anne Field is to star in My Sainted Aunt at the New End Theatre from April 8. The play, an outrageous comedy by Philip Sagar, is set in the world of international finance and expensive art — something of a theme in London theatre these days. Art and Up for Grabs, the latter starring Madonna and both at Wyndham’s Theatre, dealt with similar worlds.

Shirley Anne Field was a 1960’s beauty, appearing in films like “Saturday Night and Sunday Morning” (opposite Albert Finney), “Alfie” (with Michael Caine) and “The Entertainer” (with Sir Laurence Olivier). She was also one of the leads in “My Beautiful Launderette” with Daniel Day Lewis.

My Sainted Aunt, directed by Joe Harmston (who recently directed Jason Connery and Tracey Shaw in The Blue Room), begins previews April 8 with an official opening April 11 and runs through May 18.
