Murphy, who was formerly general manager of the Shubert Organization, began his new position at the 92nd Street Y Nov. 18. During his tenure at the Shubert Organization, he worked on a variety of shows, including The Will Rogers Follies, The Young Man From Atlanta, A Thousand Clowns, Def Poetry Jam and La Cage aux Folles. Before he joined the Shuberts, Murphy had worked as the General Manager of the Garden State Arts Center. Murphy's duties at the 92nd Street Y will include supervision of the Y's front-and-back-of-the-house staff. He will also spearhead rentals of the Y's Kaufmann Concert Hall and support programs at the famed organization, ranging from concerts to panel discussions and theatre.
