For years the late composer's estate co-owned the theatre with the Shubert Organization. The New York Post reports that Berlin's three daughters — Mary Ellin Barrett, Linda Emmett and Elizabeth Peters — recently sold their portion of the Music Box to the Shuberts. The Shubert Organization, currently headed by Gerald Schoenfeld (Chairman) and Philip J. Smith (President), now owns 100 percent of the Music Box Theatre.

The Music Box Theatre is the current home of the new Terrence McNally play Deuce, which co-stars veteran Tony-winning actresses Angela Lansbury and Marian Seldes. Recent tenants at the theatre, located at 239 West 45th Street, include The Vertical Hour, Festen, In My Life, Primo, Dame Edna: Back with a Vengeance, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Amour, Fortune's Fool, The Dinner Party, Macbeth, Amadeus, Closer, The Diary of Anne Frank, Barrymore and State Fair.
