News Shuffle Along Posts Casting Notice for Tap Dancers Audra McDonald's new musical project Shuffle Along, Or, The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed, was just announced yesterday, but director George C. Wolfe and choreographer Savion Glover are wasting no time. Actors Equity Association has posted a casting call for an Equity chorus of "strong male and female tap dancers who sing" on Saturday, March 21 at Pearl Studios in New York.

The casting notice notes that "characters are African-American," but notes that "Performers of all ethnic and racial background are encouraged to attend."

Auditioners are instructed to bring tap shoes, sheet music, and to prepare 16 bars of a Broadway/standard from the 1920s, '30s or '40s; "NO pop/rock/R&B, contemporary Broadway."

The notice says rehearsals will start March 25, 2015. The show is scheduled to open more than a year later, in April 2016.
