Classic Arts News Simon Keenlyside Drops Out of Salzburg Magic Flute Baritone Simon Keenlyside has dropped out of a new production of Mozart's Die Zauberfl‹te (The Magic Flute) that opens this month at the Salzburg Festival, the Salzburger Nachrichten reports.
According to the paper, Keenlyside has withdrawn because of an injury. The young baritone Markus Werba will sing the role of Papageno in his place.

The production is directed by Graham Vick; Riccardo Muti will conduct the Vienna Philharmonic and the Vienna State Opera chorus. The rest of the cast includes Ren_ Pape as Sarastro, Michael Schade as Tamino, and Anna-Kristiina Kaappola as the Queen of the Night. Performances run from July 30 through August 28.
