News Sistas: The Musical Broadcast on TV Oct. 27 A filmed version of Sistas: The Musical, which continues at Off-Broadway's St. Luke’s Theatre, airs on the BET Network Oct. 27 at 1 PM ET; check local listings.

Filmed in November 2012 before a live audience at St. Paul’s Community Baptist Church in Brooklyn, the cast features Jennifer Fouche as Roberta with Tracey Conyer Less (Gloria), April Nixon (Simone), Amy Goldberger (Heather) and Lexi Rhoades (Tamika).

Directed for the stage by Kenneth Ferrone, the director of photography was Charles Stewart.

Sistas, which is written by Dorothy Marcic, is described as "an uplifting musical journey, of a multi-generational African-American family. [The production is] based on a series of interviews conducted with Black women over a six-year period. Using a playlist of songs made famous by artists that include Billie Holiday, Lena Horne, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Beyoncé and others, this musical tells of the struggles, the joys and the triumphs of being Black and of being a woman in America. Told through the life and experiences of one woman and the women in her family, the story easily segues from the days of Jim Crow to the present and covers a range of topics from segregation, the women’s movement to the meaning of love and control."

The production also features sound design by Alex Markowski, costume design by Tricia Barsamian, production design by Ken Larson and lighting design by John Ferguson.

Executive producers are William Franzblau and Brett Dismuke. For more information visit sistasthemusical.com.
