News Sister Act: Eileen Atkins Dons Habit in Doubt on Jan. 10 Eileen Atkins will be Broadway's new Sister Aloysius when she joins the cast of John Patrick Shanley's Doubt on Jan. 10, 2006, replacing Cherry Jones.

Jones' last performance is Jan. 8. She is expected to join the cast of a new Broadway-bound production of The Faith Healer. Jones' co-stars Brían F. O'Byrne, Heather Goldenhersh and Adriane Lenox are all contracted through January. A press statement said, "Negotiations are ongoing with a male star to play opposite Ms. Atkins. Additional casting will be announced shortly."

Atkins, one of England's leading actresses, has appeared on New York stages in such plays as The Killing of Sister George, The Promise, Vivat! Vivat! Regina, Indiscretions, The Retreat from Moscow, Prin, A Room of One's Own and Vita and Virginia.

Jones won Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Lucille Lortel and Obie awards for Best Actress in a Play.

Doug Hughes directs. The production opened at the Walter Kerr Theatre on March 31, 2005.
