News Slut, The Musical — with Stephen Bienskie — Is a Fringe Sell-Out No, it's not an Avenue Q spinoff about the life of the conniving lounge-singing puppet Lucy T. Slut. It is, however, a new musical by Stephen Sislen and Ben Winters, and it's the first musical at this year's New York International Fringe Festival to sell-out all of its performances.

Laura Penney, one of the show's producers, said in a statement, "My partner Jane Abramson and I are stunned, thrilled and amazed that Slut sold out so quickly. We knew that Stephen and Ben wrote a brilliant show, and now theatregoers will know it, too." The musical, directed by Sarah Gurfield, explores how "everyone has a little bit of a slut in them; whether it's in the traditional sense of the word or applied to those who will do whatever it takes to further their careers." Slut follows the story of three friends: Adam, the Casanova; Dan, his conservative friend; and an aspiring rock star named Delia. The cast includes Stephen Bienskie — of Cats and The Last Session fame — as well as Nicole Ruth Snelson, Victor Hawks, Michael Thomas Holmes, Catherine Carpenter, Natalie Joy Johnson, Josh Tyson, Jeff Hiller and Mary Faber. The creative team comprises Christopher Gattelli (choreographer), Amy and David Southerland (musical directors), Mary Houston (set designer), Aaron J. Mason (lighting designer), Heather Dunbar (costume designer) and Jenny Noterman (stage manager).

Slut will be performed at the Wings Theatre, 154 Christopher Street, between Greenwich and Washington Avenues. Performances are scheduled for Aug. 9 (6:45 PM), Aug. 15 (3 PM), Aug. 20 (9 PM), Aug. 21 (8 PM) and Aug. 22 (3:30 PM). Tickets are priced at $15; availability or cancellations may be checked by calling (212) 279-4488 or (888) Fringe NYC. For more information about the Fringe Festival, visit www.FringeNYC.org.
