The new musical by Corgan is based on The Eleusinian Mysteries, initiation ceremonies held every year in ancient Greece for the cult of Demeter and Persephone.

Music Theatre Company co-artistic director Jess McLeod will direct the evening, which will feature choreography by founding artistic director Jessica Beth Redish.

According to The Music Theatre Company, "You asked, we listened. The 48-Hour Musicals, for which exciting new musical theatre writers create 15-minute musicals in only 48 hours, has been an annual mainstay of the TMTC season since 2008. This December, we reprise four musicals you've asked to see one more time. Four musicals that have led to full-length TMTC commissions — three of which you'll be seeing this season! And we conclude the evening with one very special musical theatre debut: the world premiere of a 20-minute musical by Smashing Pumpkins frontman and Highland Park resident Billy Corgan."

The 48-Hour Musicals: Encore! will also include works by Scotty Arnold, Diana Lawrence, Michael Mahler and J. Oconer Navarro.
