Smokey Joe's Cafe, the musical revue featuring the songs of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller is coming to Tokyo April 18. The show will be staged at Art Sphere in Tokyo's Shinagawa Ward until April 29.
Lieber and Stoller, who began their famous partnership 45 years ago, have had a string of popular hit songs, many of which are featured in the revue. Among them are "Hound Dog," "Love Potion #9," "Stand By Me," "Yakety Yak," "On Broadway," and "Neighborhood."
This will be the first time that the Broadway musical will be staged in Japan. Productions are still being staged in New York and London.
