News Something's Afoot, the Musical Whodunit With Roots at Goodspeed, Will Return There in 2012 Goodspeed Musicals announced via its Twitter account, @GoodspeedMusicl, that its third production at Goodspeed Opera House in 2012 will be the murder-mystery musical comedy Something's Afoot.

The show, which spoofs Agatha Christie mysteries and has a central old-lady detective character named Miss Tweed, ran briefly on Broadway in 1976, but has found a wide life as a stock and amateur property. Goodspeed Opera House (as Goodspeed Musicals was known back then) was the original producer of the show in the 1970s.

A spokesman for Goodspeed verified that the whodunit by James McDonald, David Vos and Robert Gerlach (who share book, music and lyrics credit) will play Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, CT, Oct. 5-Dec. 9. 2012. No creative team was announced. Tessie O'Shea, Gary Beach, Meg Bussert and Sal Mistretta were among original cast members on Broadway in 1976.

Goodspeed, devoted to producing new musicals and revivals of vintage or modern classics, is the recipient of two Tony Awards for Regional Theatre.

As previously reported, the troupe's other mainstage titles in 2012 will be Carousel and Mame.
