PlayBlog Sondheim on Sondheim Offers Gay & Lesbian Series, Celebrity Series and More The Roundabout Theatre Company will offer a series of Theatre-PLUS programs in tandem with its upcoming production of Sondheim on Sondheim at Studio 54.


According to press notes, the Theatre-PLUS programs "enhance the theatre-going experience for thousands of subscribers."

Sondheim on Sondheim will begin previews March 19 toward an opening on April 22. The revue of composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim's work will feature video interviews with Sondheim mixed with live performances; the cast will include Barbara Cook, Vanessa Williams, Tom Wopat, Leslie Kritzer, Norm Lewis, Euan Morton, Erin Mackey and Matthew Scott. The show is scheduled to run until June 13.

Sondheim On Sondheim was conceived by James Lapine, who will direct.

David Loud will provide musical direction and vocal arrangements, and Dan Knechtges will supply musical staging. Beowulf Boritt will design sets, Susan Hilferty costumes, Ken Billington lights, Dan Moses Schreier sound and Peter Flaherty projection and video.
