PlayBlog   Sondheim Tribute at the Oliviers Features Angela Lansbury, Adrian Lester and More (Video) Stephen Sondheim received the Olivier Special Award at the 2011 Olivier Awards ceremony March 13. A special tribute to the composer-lyricist's work and contributions to theatre in London featured Tony Award winner Angela Lansbury performing "Liaisons" from A Little Night Music and Adrian Lester re-creating part of his Olivier Award-winning performance as Bobby, singing "Being Alive" from Company.

After a tribute by British producer Sir Cameron Mackintosh and Sondheim's acceptance speech, the segment concluded with a performance of "Our Time" from Merrily We Roll Along.  The tribute was introduced by Olivier winners Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton, who hosted the ceremony and who will take on the Sondheim roles of Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett this summer at Chichester Festival Theatre.
