David Leidholdt directs a cast that includes doctors and nurses, telling the librettist George Furth and composer lyricist Sondheim's tales of marriage and singlehood in New York City. Patrick Barnes in musical director.
Proceeds from the four shows over three days go to St. Vincent's Hospital Pediatric and Adolescent HIV Program.
The company is a not-for-profit organization made up of doctors, nurses and hospital staffers of St. Vincent's Hospital. It was founded by surgeon Dr. Vincent Scarpinato (who produces and appears in Company) and internist Dr. Jacqueline Perez. The mission is to raise money for hospital charities while providing quality entertainment with music and comedy.
Over the past nine years, the players have donated thousands of dollars to Homes for the Homeless, Comic Relief, The SRO/Community Medicine Program and the Pediatric and Adolescent HIV Program of St. Vincent's.
The staging (which includes Equity performers mixed in with stage-struck health care workers) is presented by special arrangement with Music Theatre International. The cast includes Eric Armstrong; Jerry Boling, RN; Britany A. Duffy, James Merillat, Ellen R. Mitchell, RNC; Margaret M. Monahan, RN; Cristin Mortenson; Leslie C. Nemet; Desi K. Robinson; Lynne Sherwood; Vincent M. Scarpinato, MD; Randall Glen Taylor; Marcus Woollen and Christine Zimbelmann. Choreography is by Bob Cline.
Performances are 8 PM May 29-30 and 2 and 8 PM May 31.
