News Songs by Wartofsky, Navarro, Pasek and Paul to Appear in Bright Lights Concert Series Jan. 29 The musical theatre writing of Michael Wartofsky, J. Oconer Navarro and writing team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will be featured in the next installment of the Dreamlight Theatre Company's Bright Lights concert series Jan. 29 at The Triad.

Starring in the concert will be Michelle Blakely, Matt Castle, Darius de Haas, Megan McGinnis, Maurice Murphy, Katie Clarke and Lauren Molina.

The series showcases the work of emerging musical theatre writers. Previous participants include Neil Bartram, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Peter Foley and, most recently, Sam Davis and Georgia Stitt.

Michael Wartofsky is the composer of The Man in My Head, which premiered at the 2006 New York Musical Theatre Festival, and The Navigator, which got an equity reading at North Shore Music Theatre in in August 2006.

Navarro is developing a new musical Awakening, based on the classic novella by Kate Chopin. He has served in the music department of shows such as Avenue Q, The Apple Tree, Mary Poppins and Curtains.

Benj Pasek and Justin Paul wrote the musical EDGES and have written music for John Tartaglia’s new Disney Channel show, "Johnny and the Sprites," and the upcoming Off-Broadway show White Noise. They are currently working on a new musical, with Alexandra Cunningham, a writer and producer for "Desperate Housewives." Dreamlight Theatre Company's other upcoming project is a New York revival of the musical Avenue X.
