In an interview about her new album of Mozart arias, de Niese stated that she will appear in the "Master Class" film as one of the young opera singers. She did not specify which character (Audra McDonald earned a Tony Award for originating the role of African American soprano Sharon in the Broadway production).

As previously reported, Academy Award-winning actress Faye Dunaway began shooting the film in Detroit last October. Dunaway, who starred as American-born Greek opera diva Maria Callas in the national tour of McNally's play, will reportedly direct and star. She is also credited with penning the screenplay.

Dunaway has owned the film rights to the stage property for over a decade. An official announcement of the film has not been made.

McNally's play is inspired by Callas' Juilliard master classes, which were preserved on tape. For the stage production, McNally imagined the soprano reliving her stage triumphs and personal tragedies as she interacts with young, hopeful performers.

Master Class is currently playing the Kennedy Center, starring Tony and Emmy-winning actress Tyne Daly as Callas.
