Former Metropolitan Opera soprano Lynn Owen has sold out the Algonquin's Oak Room with her Nov. 15 tribute to musical theatre. Owen's tribute, titled "Vienna to Broadway & Beyond" is dedicated to the musical theatre of the "past, present and future," and includes works from Owen's CD as well as songs by Gershwin, Puccini and Sondheim. Musical direction is by Robert Hess.
Performing this evening at 8 PM, the Owen show begins with a 6:30 dinner and will include a discussion of her Grammy nominated CD.
The Algonquin confirmed the sell-out, following brisk sales for the musical theatre tribute. Owen's most recent tribute in June sold out as well.
The Algonquin is located at 59 West 44 Street.
