The Second City, Chicago most renowned comedy club, inaugurates its new Skybox Studio Theatre with a multi-racial comedy revue, Soulfront, opening Dec. 13 and running for a limited run through Jan. 4.
The new revue is an outgrowth of the Second City's Outreach Program, which is dedicated towards reversing the lack of racial diversity in the improv/sketch comedy world. Soulfront explores themes of race, gender and justice, in the hopes of attracting a more diverse audience.
The new theatre was named after the late beloved improv teacher Don DePollo, who was a rabid Cubs fan, therefore the name "Skybox." The fourth floor studio is a 100-seat cabaret style venue.
