News "Sound of Music" Soundtrack Will Get 45th Anniversary Release, With Lea Michele on Bonus Track Legacy Recordings will release a 45th anniversary edition of the soundtrack of "The Sound of Music," the 1965 movie version of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical. The disc will include a bonus track featuring "Glee" TV star Lea Michele, plus special liner notes.

"The Sound of Music: 45th Anniversary Edition" from Legacy Recordings — in association with Rodgers & Hammerstein: An Imagem Company and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment — will feature the song "My Favorite Things" sung by Michele (of Broadway's Spring Awakening and Ragtime).

A Nov. 2 release is expected. The package will have new liner notes and newly rediscovered photos from the FOX archives, and will coincide with the film's high definition Blu-ray Disc debut from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

The disc's 1,500-word liner-notes essay ("I'll Sing Once More: The Sound of Music Lives On") is written by Bert Fink, senior vice president of communications for Rodgers & Hammerstein: An Imagem Company.

The soundtrack of the Academy Award-winning film spent its first four years on Billboard's Top Albums chart, and has sold over 10 million units to date. Julie Andrews starred in the film that includes the now-classic show tunes "Sixteen Going on Seventeen," "Do-Re-Mi," "Edelweiss," "So Long, Farewell," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" and "My Favorite Things."

To commemorate the film's anniversary, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release "individually numbered Limited Collector's Sets packaged in a keepsake box featuring the digitally remastered and restored film on Blu-ray Disc, a bonus DVD copy of the film, the new deluxe soundtrack CD, a 100-page 'My Favorite Things' scrapbook, a reproduction of the original 1965 souvenir program, an exclusive hand-painted 'My Favorite Things' music box and more." In the month prior to the release of the soundtrack and Blu-ray, "The Sound of Music" will be screened in movie theaters across America. NCM Fathom, Rodgers & Hammerstein and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will present "The Sound of Music Sing-Along Event: A 45th Anniversary Celebration" on Oct. 19 and Oct. 26 in over 500 movie theatres in over 150 cities.
