The Costa Mesa, CA, company will showcase the work as part of the 2008 Pacific Playwrights Festival. Previews begin April 20, 2008, toward an April 25 opening night. Trip Cullman will direct the SCR commission, which is slated to run through May 11 on the Julianne Argyros Stage.

Tony Award winner Greenberg (Take Me Out) previously penned SCR commissions A Naked Girl on the Appian Way, The Violet Hour, Everett Beekin, Hurrah at Last, Night and Her Stars, The Extra Man and Three Days of Rain. SCR has presented those works as well as The Dazzle. A staged reading of the SCR-commissioned Our Mother's Brief Affair played at the 2007 PPF.

Set in 2005 Manhattan during the time that Cristo's art installation, "The Gates," filled Central Park with billowing orange fabric, The Injured Party centers on "one of the viewers... Maxine, 92 years old and enormously rich. Her grandson Seth, who studiously avoided 'The Gates,' is not so rich, hopelessly stalled—and determined that 'redistribution must commence.' A bevy of inimitable New Yorkers aid and/or hinder Seth in this new comedy about family, love, art, money and ambition," according to press notes.

Director Cullman has also staged Off-Broadway's Some Men, Dark Matters, Dog Sees God, The Wooden Breeks, Manic Flight Reaction, Swimming in the Shallows, Roulette, Smashing and Arabian Night.

SCR currently presents A Christmas Carol (through Dec. 24) and the upcoming La Posada Mágica (The Magical Journey) (Dec. 7-23). The 44th season for SCR will continue with A Feminine Ending (Jan. 6-27, 2008), The Importance of Being Earnest (Feb. 8-March 9, 2008), Culture Clash in AmeriCCa (March 16-April 6, 2008), a world-premiere production to be announced (April 4-May 4, 2008) and Taking Steps (May 16-June 15, 2008).
