News South Coast Rep Plays World Premiere of Nottage's Intimate Apparel, April 11-May 18 California's South Coast Repertory co-presents the world premiere production of playwright Lynn Nottage’s Intimate Apparel at their Costa Mesa stage, April 11 May 18. Co-producer Baltimore's Center Stage presented the work at their space earlier.

In the new drama by the playwright of Crumbs from the Table of Joy, an African American seamstress looks for love and respect in 1905's lower Manhattan. Kate Whoriskey directs a cast that includes Sue Cremin, Erica Gimpel, Steven Goldstein, Kevin Jackson, Brenda Pressley and Shané Williams. The design team features Walt Spangler (set), Catherine Zuber (costumes), Scott Zielinski (lighting) and Lindsay Jones (sound designer). The production also features original music by Reginald Robinson and arrangements by piano coach William Foster McDaniel.

Nottage's Crumbs from the Table of Joy made its west coast premiere at SCR — winning NAACP Theatre Awards for actors Dorian Harewood and Karin Malina White. Other works by Nottage is include Mud, River, Stone; Por'knockers; Poof! ; Las Meninas; and a children’s musical, A Walk Through Time. She is currently working on a companion piece to Intimate Apparel, set 100 years later, for Playwrights Horizons.
