Classic Arts News South Florida Dance Company Ballet Gamonet Makes Its Debut Jimmy Gamonet de los Heros's Ballet Gamonet made its debut on October 7 and 8 at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts, the Miami Herald reports.
The company's inaugural program featured Gamonet's Purple Bend I, which features a pas de deux for two female dancers, and Jerry Opdenaker's Coeur de Basque, along with two new works by Gamonet: the South Florida premiere of Estancia, and the world permiere of Les Echanges.

Until August, the new company was known as Ballet Gamonet Maximum Dance, and was directed by Gamonet with former Miami City Ballet dancers David Palmer and Yanis Pikieris.

Palmer and Pikieris had merged their company, Maximum Dance, with Gamonet's newly founded company the previous February, but after a few months, creative differences between the directors caused a rift. Palmer and Pikieris withdrew, and are now directing a contemporary dance series with MCB.
