Spanish diva Sara Montiel will appear in two concerts at Mexico City's Teatro Alameda October 17 & 18.
Montiel, with more than 50 films and 30 recordings, won fame in Spain, Mexico and Hollywood in the 1950's for her beauty and art, as well for her unique style to sing the "cuple," a frivolous, kind and sentimental style of music that represents a whole period of Spanish music.
In Hollywood, Montiel starred in films like "Serenade" (1954) with Mario Lanza and Joan Fontaine and "Veracruz" (1956) with Burt Lancaster and Gary Cooper. Back in Spain she starred two of the most famous Spanish film musicals of all time: "La Violetera" in 1957 and "El Ultimo Cuple" in 1958.
Sarita, as her devoted fans call her, will delight Mexican audiences with a program that will include hits like "La Violetera", "El Relicario","Valencia", "Pichi", "Colon 34", "Fumando Espero" and "Es mi Hombre."
Sarita Montiel will appear Oct. 17 at 9 PM and Oct. 18 at 8:30 PM. For information and tickets call (5) 420-7777. --By Claudio Carrera
