Part of the company's "The Play's The Thing" radio theatre series, the production will run through May 18 at the Skirball Cultural Center; the play will also be recorded for future broadcast.

Speech & Debate, which was recently seen at the Roundabout's The Black Box, features Gideon Glick, who was part of the New York Speech & Debate cast, as well as "Desperate Housewives" star Andrea Bowen, 110 in the Shade's Bobby Steggert and "Saturday Night Live" alum Nora Dunn.

"They may go to the same school," Speech & Debate press notes read, "but misfits Solomon, Diwata and Howie have never met and their teachers and peers just don't take them seriously - until a sex scandal involving one of their teachers brings them together. Soon they realize that three voices are stronger than one. And since their school has no speech and debate squad, maybe this is their chance to be heard at last - by the school and even the world."

LATW producing artistic director Susan Loewenberg said in a recent statement, "The opportunity to do this play was one we couldn't pass up. We scrambled to fit it into our spring schedule. The originality and passion of this young writer impelled me to include Stephen's work in our current season."

LATW's nationally syndicated radio show "The Play's The Thing" series can be heard in cities across the country, including Boston, Seattle, Albuquerque as well as on XM Satellite radio. The two-hour radio broadcasts include special backstage features and interviews with actors, playwrights and directors. The L.A. Theatre Works Audio Theatre Collection is available in book stores, libraries, through their catalog or digitally on audible.com, the L.A. Theatre Works website and iTunes.
