Bloom, whose play Tender was presented as part of the 2009 SPF at the Public Theater, will spend two weeks in London developing her work. The program also allows Bloom the opportunity to experience the British theatre industry under the guidance of the Donmar staff. Tender was first presented by the Belvoir Street B-Sharp in Sydney in 2007. Bloom serves as co-artistic director of Australia's nowyesnow, and has adapted Ibsen's Ghosts for the State Theatre Company of South Australia. She is also the author of Bloodwood and "An Archipelago."
SPF, which operates under the umbrella of Living Room for Artists, has produced over 70 original works, providing writers a financially supported protected environment in which to explore and hone their material with the aid of established professionals. SPF was founded in 2004 by Arielle Tepper Madover, the Tony-winning Broadway producer of Hamlet, Mary Stuart, Hair, 33 Variations Frost/Nixon, Equus, The Pillowman, Democracy, Spamalot, Jumpers and A Class Act.
