News Spider-Man: The Musical: The Musical, Original Parody of Turn Off the Dark, Will Fly Into Lincoln The Colonel Mustard Amateur Attic Theatre Company will present Spider-Man: The Musical: The Musical, a musical parody of the much-in-the-news Broadway production of Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark, Aug. 22-23.

The free performances will be held at 7:30 PM at Cooper Park (corner of 8th and E Streets) in Lincoln, NE.

Here's how the show is billed: "How can a musical be a musical? Well, that's what happens when you write a parody about Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, the infamous 2011 Broadway show. In this re-imagined parody of the true story, we affectionately poke fun at The Great White Way, adding our own whimsical mythology to the Spider-Man franchise. The story is equal parts inspired by The Producers and Phantom of the Opera, revolving around comically exaggerated versions of the artists involved (Julie Taymor, Bono, The Edge, and more!) as they struggle to pull together a monumental production, only to discover that there is much more underneath the surface — like, a horrific monster under the floorboards, for instance. As with all Colonel Mustard projects, the show will be performed with a tongue-in-cheek tone and a lo-fi aesthetic, making the most imaginative use of a little bit of money and a LOT of enthusiasm."

Spider-Man: The Musical: The Musical will feature original music and Mustard actors portraying Spider-Man, Julie Taymor, Stan Lee, Bono, Tobey Maguire, The Edge, Glen Berger and more.

The musical was funded through the company's Kickstarter, which can be found here.

Spider-Man will be Colonel Mustard's sixth original full-length musical. Previous parodies and projects include Jurassic Park: The Musical!, Dr. Quinn: The Musical, X Files: The Musical, Gods of the Prairie and Jurassic Park: The Musical: 3D. The Colonel Mustard is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to "living creatively and loving wholeheartedly." The Colonel Mustard's mission is to "bring surprising, inspiring, and free-of-charge entertainment to the city of Lincoln."
