Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark, which is currently in its second month of previews at the Foxwood Theatre, presented a brand-new finale Jan. 19.

The technically ambitious ending, according to the New York Times, "includes a freshly conceived flying sequence where the character Peter Parker/Spider-Man is airborne, flying around the Foxwoods Theater in a triumphant manner."

Spider-Man spokesperson Rick Miramontez told the Times that the new addition to the $65 million musical involved "an airborne finale moment that will be familiar to Spider-Man fans around the world."

Matthew James Thomas, who plays the title role on occasion, was the first to experience the new ending in front of an audience. Thomas tested the flying sequence at the Jan. 19 matinee; Reeve Carney was expected to experience the new sequence that night.

Directed by Julie Taymor, the new musical is currently scheduled to officially open March 15.
