News Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark Will Not Hang on Joe Allen's Infamous Flop Wall The high-flying musical Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark, which underwent the longest preview period in Broadway history and faced many obstacles on its road to opening night, will not join the ranks of Joe Allen's infamous Flop Wall in Manhattan.

A statement from Joe Allen reads, "A lot of people have been asking if we are going to put Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark on the flop wall, so let me say, once and for all: absolutely not. Any show that plays for three years on Broadway, providing steady employment to members of the theatre community and pumping money into the local economy, is no failure in my book."

Joe Allen, the popular theatregoing hot spot on 46th Street, is known for its wall of show posters that flopped on Broadway, including Breakfast at Tiffany's, Man on the Moon and Moose Murders, among others. Click here to view the Flop Wall online.

Spider-Man began previews Nov. 28, 2010, and officially opened June 14, 2011. The production was known for having the longest preview period of all time. The musical features a book by Julie Taymor, Glen Berger and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and music and lyrics by Bono and The Edge.
