A statement from Joe Allen reads, "A lot of people have been asking if we are going to put Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark on the flop wall, so let me say, once and for all: absolutely not. Any show that plays for three years on Broadway, providing steady employment to members of the theatre community and pumping money into the local economy, is no failure in my book."

As previously reported, Spider-Man will play its final performance Jan. 4, 2014, with plans to open in Las Vegas following its Broadway run.
Spider-Man began previews Nov. 28, 2010, and officially opened June 14, 2011. The production was known for having the longest preview period of all time. The musical features a book by Julie Taymor, Glen Berger and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and music and lyrics by Bono and The Edge.
