News 'Spider Woman' Back to Toronto It seems that her web keeps expanding, capturing more and more audience members all over the world. Garth H. Drabinsky, Chairman and CEO of Livent Inc., the production corporation of the The Kiss of the Spider Woman - The Musical, announced recently that the North American Touring production will return to it's birthplace, Toronto, for 2 weeks.

Drabinsky, Chairman and CEO of Livent Inc., the production corporation of the The Kiss of the Spider Woman - The Musical, announced recently that the North American Touring production will return to it's birthplace, Toronto, for 2 weeks.

Hal Prince's The Kiss of the Spider Woman, the multi-award-winning musical adapted from Manuel Puig's acclaimed novel by Terrence McNally, with a score by Broadway composers John Kander and Fred Ebb, had its world premiere in Toronto's Bluma Apple Theatre. It won the Canadian Dora Mavor Moore award for "Best Musical," then went on to New York, where it won 7 Tony Awards plus "Best Musical," and also London, where it won the London Evening Standard Award for "Best Musical."The touring production stars original Spider Woman, two time Tony Award-winner Chita Rivera. "I am pleased that we are able to present Kiss... with our original star, Chita Rivera, here in the city and country where it all began," said Drabinsky.

The production also features Canadian actor Juan Chioran, and American film and TV actor Dorian Harewood. It is currently scheduled to play throughout major markets in North America until June, with a brief stint at Toronto's Elgin Theatre, Feb. 22-Mar. 3.

In addition to the touring production, Kiss was recently staged in a German- language production in Vienna, as well as a Spanish-language production in Buenos Aires. A Japanese -language production is scheduled to open in Tokyo in October, 1996.
