Springboard Productions Will Present Ryan Scott Oliver's Darling, a musical Not Before Seen in Canada | Playbill

News Springboard Productions Will Present Ryan Scott Oliver's Darling, a musical Not Before Seen in Canada Springboard Theatre Productions (Vancouver, Canada) will present Darling, a musical with music and lyrics by Ryan Scott Oliver and book by Brett Ryback – the dark and gritty story loosely based on Peter Pan – to begin performances Oct. 8 at Renegade Productions Performance Studio (125 East 2nd Ave, Vancouver).

The production has not before been seen in Canada and runs through Oct. 18.

Dawn Ewen directs and choreographs. Steven Greenfield will serve as music director.

Here's how the show is billed: "Darling follows upper crust teenager Ursula Morgan in 1929 Boston as society boils in the weeks before the Stock Market Crash. Neglected by her excessive, self-absorbed parents, Ursula encounters Peter, a charming rent-boy of uncertain age, on the run from Captain Rose of the police. When she is offered the opportunity to run away with him, she takes it and finds herself swept into the seedy underground of jazz, speakeasies, and a mysterious powder called 'dust.' Along the way, they also meet the featherboys of the Warehouse speakeasy, Stella the jealous barkeep, and the girls of Lily's burlesque. Darling is fresh, emotional, and daring new musical theatre at its finest."

The cast of 19 includes Francis Boyle, Jacqueline Breakwell, Julie Casselman, Adam Charles, Vanessa Coley-Donohue, Sharon Crandall, Steffanie Davis, Don Falconer, Paige Fraser, Kayla Heyblom, Will Hopkins, Victor Hunter, Alexander Nicoll, Nick Preston, Katie Purych, Laura Ross, Jack Strudwick, Robin Sukorokoff and Jacob Wolstencroft.

The design team includes sound design by Wade Hackworth, lighting design by Mike Hewitt, set design by Lauren McDonald, properties design by Chelsea Ramos, and costume design by Ciara Dixon and Rose Siubhan McNeil. Tickets range from $20-25 and can be purchased at darling.brownpapertickets.com.
