St. Paul's Ordway Center for the Performing Arts balanced its budget for the 2004-05 season, the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune reports.

It is the third straight year in the black for the venue.

The center posted a $1,600 surplus on a budget of $14.7 million. Fundraising increased by 17 percent, to a total of $3.8 million. Attendance to Ordway programming was down from 350,000 people to 340,000.

The center was helped by a three-year $1.5 million grant, to be applied toward education programs, from the Fred C. and Katherine B. Anderson Foundation.

The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra performs at the Ordway Center, as does the Minnesota Opera, the Schubert Club, and the Minnesota Orchestra.
