Stafford, Swander, Doyen and More Will Lead Amadeus in Los Angeles

News   Stafford, Swander, Doyen and More Will Lead Amadeus in Los Angeles

Patrick Stafford and Peter Swander will spar in Peter Shaffer's music-filled drama Amadeus, which will begin performances June 18 in Los Angeles.

The Production Company, which earned an L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award for Equus last season, presents the engagement that will run through July 31 at the Chandler Studio Theatre. August Viverito will direct.

After appearing as Alan Strang in Equus for TPC, Stafford will return to star as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart alongside Swander (When Harry met Sally at the Theatre Royal Haymarket) as Antonio Salieri. The cast will also feature Dan Alemshah (Count Orsini-Rosenberg), Danielle Doyen (Constanze Weber), Keven Kaddi (Chancellor Von Strack / Venticelli 1), David Robert May (Emperor Joseph II / Venticelli) and Barry Saltzman (Baron Van Swieten / Venticelli).

Shon LeBlanc will render costume designs for Amadeus, with sound design by Bob Blackburn.

According to the Production Company, "I murdered Mozart!' rings out across Europe from composer Antonio Salieri on his death-bed. Salieri had been the toast of Europe. He had been a devout Catholic all his life. He made a pact with God that he would be the vessel through which God’s music would spring. All was good until Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart arrives in Vienna. In horror Salieri determines that it is Mozart instead who is his God’s chosen voice. Mozart's music proves it; God had broken their pact. Salieri now makes a terrible new vow: to block God on earth and teach him a lesson, using Mozart as the means to that end."

For tickets, priced $25, phone (800) 838-3006 or visit TheProdCo. The Chandler Studio Theatre is located at 12443 Chandler Blvd, North Hollywood, CA.
