The 20th Century Fox thriller will begin filming in August in (as usual for Shyamalan) Philadelphia. The scheduled release of the movie penned and directed by Shyamalan is June 13, 2008. Leguizamo will star as best friend to Mark Wahlberg's character who, according to the trade publication, "takes his family on the run when a natural disaster threatens to end the world."

The Colombian actor first caught the eyes of the theatre world with his one-man show Mambo Mouth and has also appeared in Spic O-Rama, Freak: A Semi Demi Quasi Pseudo Autobiography and Sexaholix. On film, he appeared in Baz Luhrmann's "Moulin Rouge" and "Romeo + Juliet," in "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar," "The Summer of Sam," "Carlito's Way" and (in voice) on both "Ice Age" movies.

He star alongside another Wahlberg (Donnie) in the upcoming Spike TV mini-series, "The Kill Point," which starts July 22. Upcoming projects also include "Love in the Time of Cholera," "Where God Left His Shoes," "The Take" and "The Babysitters."
