What show recently impressed you?
At the risk of sounding like a 14-year-old girl...Wicked!!! I just saw it a few weeks ago and was completely blown away! I had seen it years ago, but it really hit me this time — the music, the story, the cast, everything. I went because one of my besties, Lindsay Mendez, is currently playing Elphaba, and there is something so incredible about sitting in the audience and watching your friend knock it out of the park. I was a sobbing mess.
What production are you most excited to see?
I've been out of town working for most of the year, so there is soooo much I need to catch up on. I mean, I still need to see Pippin and Kinky Boots! But I'm really looking forward to seeing Murder for Two when it transfers to New World Stages. I missed it at Second Stage, and I am a huge Jeff Blumenkrantz fan. I totally have a talent crush on him, but shhhh, don't tell him.
What play/musical would you most like to revive on Broadway, and which role would you want to play?
No question — Agnes Gooch in Mame. I played the role a few years ago at Goodspeed, and it was absolutely my most favorite role I've ever done. I also wouldn't say no to Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls and Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress.
What are your current/upcoming projects?
Well, I am about to go into Annie on Broadway as Lily St. Regis, so I've been having a blast rehearsing with that wonderful company. As for upcoming projects, I am in the beginning stages of creating an hour-long set of stories and music with the ultimate goal of turning it into a one-woman show. Also, I've decided I'm going to try to install a new backsplash in my kitchen. Now, I have never home-improved anything in my life — I mean, I just learned what grout was. But I saw it on HGTV, and they made it look so easy! So I'm sure it won't be a disaster at all...
