Here, via email, we hear from Broadway singing actress Janine DiVita, who will be seen opposite Josh Lucas in Francois Girard's film "Boychoir."

What show recently impressed you?
I'm crazy about A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. I thought it was the most clever, brilliantly staged, and masterfully performed piece of theatre. Also, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical was absolutely wonderful and has such a stellar cast. I was lucky enough to be at opening night, and the energy in The Sondheim was electrifying.

What production are you most excited to see?
Oh gosh, there are so many, I can’t pick only one! This season has such a diverse selection to choose from. On the musical side of things, I haven’t yet seen The Bridges of Madison County, but I’m planning on seeing it soon. I’m a big Jason Robert Brown fan, so I can’t wait to see that one. Also, Bullets Over Broadway, I hear, is going to be a huge hit. Susan Stroman is sheer genius. As for plays, I’m really excited to see All the Way with Bryan Cranston and Act One.

What play/musical would you most like to revive on Broadway, and which role would you want to play?
There’s so much awesome and exciting new musical theatre being written right now that I’m a big advocate for something original. But I do love a revival. For musicals, Guenevere in Camelot, Lily in Kiss Me, Kate and Aldonza in Man of La Mancha are roles I would love to play. As far as play revivals go, I’d love to explore Sophie in The Butterfly Collection. I also love anything by Neil LaBute.

What are your current/upcoming projects?
This year has been probably my most varied year yet, and it’s been exhilarating! I’ve done theatre, debuted my solo show, Blonde Ammunition, at 54 Below, worked in both the national and international symphonic world, and have worked on-screen. Right now, I’m shooting the feature film "Boychoir," directed by the fantastic Francois Girard. I’ve also become involved with two very special charities/organizations: Live Below the Line/Opportunity International/CARE, which fights extreme poverty; and Fabulous and Fighting, which provides free clothing to cancer patients. Up next for me, I will be switching gears to the ingenue world, playing Hope Harcourt in Anything Goes, in Concert! with the Indianapolis Symphony conducted by Jack Everly. Then I will be heading to Bethesda, MD, where I will play Claire in Adam Gwon’s Ordinary Days at the Roundhouse Theatre directed by my friend, Matthew Gardner. I’m also working on a debut album!
