Here, via email, we hear from singing actor Mitchell Jarvis, who co-stars with Natascia Diaz in the Signature Theatre production of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill's Threepenny Opera, which continues through June 1 in Arlington, VA.

What show recently impressed you?
I try and see as much as I can. The last show to blow me out of my seat was Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. I love parody. I love satire. I love Durang. The act two speech from David Hyde Pierce was a clinic... And I was thrilled that I got to see that production.

What production are you most excited to see?
I want to see Neil Patrick Harris in Hedwig... I missed it in the 90s, and it's a role I've wanted to play since I saw the film. I'm glad it's finally getting a Broadway run. I'm also dying to see any play that Mark Rylance is headlining. I've never seen one. His growing legend and his award speeches have left me very curious.

What play/musical would you most like to revive on Broadway, and which role would you want to play?
I have no less than 30 I'd love to re-invent. I've always wanted to play the title role in Floyd Collins.... But seeing as it's never had a Broadway run, I suppose that wouldn't qualify as a revival. In which case, it's about damn time someone mans up and produces City Of Angels, and casts me as Stine.

What are your current/upcoming projects?
As of now, I am playing Macheath in Signature Theatre production of The Threepenny Opera. A wonderful modern take using the Robert MacDonald and Jeremy Sams translation, and directed by the excessively talented Matthew Gardiner (keep an eye out for his meteoric rise... He's a good one.) I am also currently in the process of finishing production on a second season of "it could be worse," a web series turned television show that I have co-created with my writing partner Wesley Taylor. And, in the near future, you can catch me in a couple indie films set to release in 2014. One is a drama on sadomasochism called "Happy Baby." The second… a bombastic take on William Shakespeare in the quirky comedy "Opening Night." Up next for me? Who knows... Stay tuned. I hope it's something good.
