Here, via email, we hear from actress Christina Elise Perry, who plays Darlene in Variations Theatre Group's revival of David Rabe’s Hurlyburly at The Chain Theatre.

What show recently impressed you?
The Two Character Play by Tennessee Williams, with Amanda Plummer and Brad Dourif. The relationship and chemistry they shared was absolutely chilling and electric. When I talk about this show, I cannot help but speak of them together, almost as though they were one person. It became so apparent that these two disillusioned siblings thrive on the very existence of each other. I was enraptured with the actors' specificity as they performed their play-within-a-play and the real family drama that brought them there.

What production are you most excited to see?
Where to begin?! All The Way with Bryan Cranston, Kenneth Branagh in Macbeth, and The Realistic Joneses with Tracy Letts to name a few. They are all legends, and I can't wait to see their powerhouse performances.

What play/musical would you most like to revive on Broadway, and which role would you want to play?
The Shrike, a psychological drama by Joseph Kramm. It is set in a mental institution and follows Jim Downs, a theatrical director who has a mental breakdown. I am not quite the right age to play Anne, Jim's wife, but when I am, I would love to tackle that role. The role of Anne is twisted, and the dialogue is superbly written. And, I must be honest, the 1950's garb would be a blast to wear.

What are your current/upcoming projects?
I am currently part of the development of a new musical called DRAGULA, a campy, energetic romp filled with a ton of heart, and a beautiful message. We are doing a second reading this spring, and I cannot wait to play the role of the ditzy, but well-meaning, comedic Tammy Twingle again. The company I am involved with, Variations Theatre Group, also just opened submissions for the Chain NYC Film Festival, and I am stoked to be working on that again. It is a blast meeting so many amazing New York filmmakers.
