Here, via email, we hear from two-time Tony nominee Keith Carradine, who will co-star in the New York City Center Encores! staging of the 1951 Lerner and Loewe musical Paint Your Wagon, which will be presented March 18-22.

What show recently impressed you?
I was very impressed with A Delicate Balance, but I’m prejudiced there because my daughter [Martha Plimpton] played Julia. That’s the most recent thing I’ve seen.

What production are you most excited to see?
I understand that what I should see, if I ever get the chance, is Hamilton. I hear that it’s just sublime. I hope I get to see it.

What play/musical would you most like to revive on Broadway, and which role would you want to play?
Well, certainly Paint Your Wagon has been on my list, and now here we are doing that….. It’s not a Broadway revival, but it is a revival of the music, and the score is going to be presented in an amazing, incomparable way, with a 31-piece orchestra and a huge cast of 30 performers. It’s going to be remarkable. Apart from Paint Your Wagon, there are other things that are floating around that will always have a special place in my heart. I know I’m not British, but I always thought I could play Higgins in My Fair Lady. And, I’d love to play Arthur in Camelot if that were ever to come back. Those are both British-centric musicals, but I think they are terrific. They are on my list.

What are your current/upcoming projects?
I’m presently working on “Madame Secretary” playing President Conrad Dalton, and I have an independent film I just finished with Malcolm McDowell and Jane Seymour called "Bereave" that’s now making the festival circuit. At this point, that’s all I know about.
