What show recently impressed you?
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Great play, ferocious performers, terrific director. No splashy set, no bells and whistles and no movie stars. Untouchable.
What production are you most excited to see?
I’m super excited to see my brilliant friend Martin Moran in his latest one-man show, All the Rage. Marty’s kindness and compassion and humor allow him to explore all of the wonderful complexity of life with such a considered and insightful perspective. He’s a real gift.
What play/musical would you most like to revive on Broadway, and which role would you want to play?
I would love to see something unique and inventive from Tommy Tune’s heyday — where actors and movement and staging really drove the story. It would be foolhardy to even tiptoe into Michael Jeter’s shoes as Otto Kringelein in Grand Hotel, but I think it would be divine. Or Legs Diamond. And I’d promise to open with less than 72 previews.
What are your current/upcoming projects?
I’m currently playing the creepy and lecherous Dr. Chilton in the wacky and wonderful Silence! at the Elektra Theatre. I’m also returning as the caustic and unbearable Andy Edmond in the third season of the super popular webseries "Submissions Only." And the next incarnation of Julianne Wick-Davis and Dan Collins’ wonderful musical Southern Comfort based on the Sundance award-winning documentary about transgendered friends in rural Georgia is happening at Barrington Stage this summer.
