Here, via email, we hear from singing actor Christopher Rice, who appears in the ensemble of the Tony-winning Broadway production of The Book of Mormon.

What show recently impressed you?
I am a pretty big fan of Matilda over at the Shubert Theatre. I have seen it a number of times, and I fall more and more in love with it with each viewing. The cast is superb, and there are so many moments that tug at your heartstrings. And those kids are something else! When I was their age, I could barely do a jazz-square. Also, I would say Pippin is a must-see! I’ve seen it twice and can’t wait to go back. There’s nothing else like it!

What production are you most excited to see?
I’ve really been looking forward to seeing The Glass Menagerie. I’ve heard so many great things about it. Also, I’m excited to see The Bridges of Madison County when it opens this spring!

What play/musical would you most like to revive on Broadway, and which role would you want to play?
This is a tough one. There are so many great musicals out there… so I’ll give my top three! 42nd Street as Billy Lawlor, Thoroughly Modern Millie as Jimmy Smith and Oklahoma! as Will Parker. I guess I am a fan of the song-and-dance man.

What are your current/upcoming projects?
This week I was lucky enough to sing with some pretty stellar Broadway performers at Iridium’s Broadway Bash New Year’s Eve Party! After performing we got escorted into Times Square to watch the ball drop! It was a really cool way to ring in the New Year. In 2014, you can continue to catch me baptizing Ugandans in The Book of Mormon at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre! While not leaving the show, I am excited to be performing in another show here in New York in 2014, but I shouldn’t say too much as casting hasn’t been announced yet. In addition to the stage, my Youtube video “Cups: A Tap Dance” went viral this fall, so I’ve been inspired to work on some new dance projects and release them online in the coming year.
