Magic, according to press notes, was written as a "challenge from George Bernard Shaw, a close friend and debating partner of Chesterton. With his typical wit and mirth, Chesterton tackles the enormous subjects of supernaturalism vs. naturalism and skepticism vs. belief in this highly humorous, intelligent, and romantic play, about a motley crew of intellectuals that gather at the estate of a wealthy Duke to view a magic show with a twist so incomprehensible it will change their lives forever."
