News Staged Readings of Grumpy Old Men: The Musical Set for November Two staged readings of the Broadway-bound Grumpy Old Men: The Musical will be presented in Manhattan in November.

The by-invitation-only readings, produced by Jeff Gardner, will be held Nov. 1 and 2. Casting will be announced shortly. Grumpy Old Men: The Musical is based on the 1993 Warner Bros. film of the same name. Glen Casale will direct the reading of Grumpy, which features a score by Neil Berg (music) and Nick Meglin (lyrics) and a book by Dan Remmes.

The musical, according to press notes, "is the story of two aging men, Max and John, neighbors, who have been feuding for most of their lives. The two men are re-united in friendship through the love and compassion of their new neighbor across the street, the beautiful, and eccentric, Ariel."

In a statement, producer Gardner said, "[The musical] is an outstanding opportunity to bring back to Broadway some of our finest veteran performers."
