Mexico's most popular film, TV and theatre stars came out for the Mexican premiere ofCrazy for You (Loco Por Ti), which took place Apr. 7 at Mexico City's Teatro San Rafael.

Among the theatre stars seen there were Silvia Pinal (currently rehearsing Gypsy), Marga Lopez, Jaqueline Andere, Chantal Andere, Kitty de Hoyos (currently starring in Quien Yo?), Enrique Chi (star of Houdini), Edith Gonzalez (from Aventurera), Antonio Calvo (composer of Houdini), Eugenio Derbez (Run for Your Wife!) and Margarita Gralia.

Audience and critics adored the George and Ira Gershwin Tony Award-winning musical comedy, which is performed for first time in Spanish under the direction of Rafael Perrin. With the opening of Crazy for You, Perrin sets a record as the first director in Mexico to have five shows playing simultaneously. Perrin's other current shows are The Woman in Black, Houdini: La Magia del Amor, Quien Yo? and Run for Your Wife.

At the end of the opening performance of Crazy for You, executive producer Manolo Sanchez Navarro expressed his happiness about this opening, and said that the entire Crazy run will be dedicated to the memory of his father, El Senor Teatro, the late actor/director/producer Manolo Fabregas; who wanted to stage this musical ever since he and his wife (producer Fela Fabregas) saw it on Broadway in 1992.

Crazy for You plays at the Teatro San Rafael in Mexico City on Wed. and Thurs. at 8:30 PM, Fri. and Sat. at 7 PM & 9:45 PM and Sun at 5 PM & 8 PM. Tickets ($150.00 Mexican Pesos) are available through Ticketmaster at (52-5) 325-9000. --By Claudio Carrera
