News State of the Union Will Feature Songs by Gwon, Blaemire, Collins and More State of the Union, which is billed as "a celebration of our nation and its foibles," will be offered Jan. 13, 2009, at the Laurie Beechman Theatre.

Nick Blaemire

Presented by The Spotlight Cabaret, the 7 PM performance will feature the songs of Adam Gwon, Nick Blaemire, Paul Leschen, Dan Collins, Eric Day, Tina Lear, Gordon Leary, Julia Meinwald, Gregory Jacobs Roseman and Rob Shapiro. Expect such titles as "Alaska," "I Love You Rachel Maddow," "Black Friday" and "Goodbye George Bush." Among those who will be interpreting the work of the aforementioned composers are Brittney Borgstedt, Liz Carbonell, Auri Marcus, Jordan Price, David Sharrocks and Sarah Statler.  Daniel Fischer will direct the concert with music direction by Christopher Brian Chung.

The Spotlight Cabaret is produced by Ryan Scott Oliver and Rob Shapiro.

The Laurie Beechman Theatre is located within the West Bank Café at 407 West 42nd Street at Ninth Avenue. There is a $10 cover charge and a $15 food/drink minimum. For reservations e-mail [email protected] or call (212) 695-6909.
