The late, acclaimed actress and acting teacher Stella Adler will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Aug. 4.

The ceremony will be held at 11:30 AM at 6773 Hollywood Boulevard, located between Highland and Las Palmas. The morning event will begin with comments by Johnny Grant, who will introduce Irene Gilbert, the creator and Founding Director of the Stella Adler Academy of Acting and Theatres; Tom Oppenheim, Adler's grandson and the Artistic Director of the Adler Academy; and Ellen Adler, daughter of the late actress. Adler's star will be situated in front of the Stella Adler Academy. Among those scheduled to attend the unveiling of Adler's star include Melanie Griffith, Benecio Del Toro and Mark Ruffalo.

A respected actress, director and teacher — who remains one of the foremost influences on contemporary acting — Stella Adler (Feb. 10, 1901-Dec. 21, 1992) appeared on Broadway in He Who Gets Slapped, Pretty Little Parlor, Sons and Soldiers, Paradise Lost, Awake and Sing!, Gold Eagle Guy, Gentlewoman, Hilda Cassidy, Big Night, Success Story, Night Over Taos, 1931, The House of Connelly, Big Lake and The Straw Hat. Her Broadway directorial/staging credits include Sunday Breakfast and Manhattan Nocturne. She founded the Stella Adler Theater Studio, which was later renamed The Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting.
