Life in Manhattan could be framed by the title of Lexington Group's set of city life vignettes, Step In And Stand Clear -- those words are said at every subway stop in New York City.

Step In And Stand Clear - A City Slam, which began its run Nov. 12 at the Ensemble Studio Theatre with an official opening Nov. 15, dissects the day-to-day existence of Manhattanites as they deal with sex and romance, finding an apartment, the Statue of Liberty, the subway, fast food and all the other delights of urban life. Originally set to close Nov. 29, Step In has extended for three more performances Nov. 30-Dec. 2.

Directed by Lexington Group member India Cooper, Step In And Stand Clear stars current Group members Karine Andresen, Geneva Carr, Cooper, Tristan Fitch, Holli Harms, Tom Paitson Kelly, David Riedy and Sean Sutherland (none of whom are actually from New York).

The Lexington Group was formed in the summer of 1993 at the Ensemble Studio Theatre's conference in Lexington, NY. They have been developing Step In over the last two years.

Tickets for the show are $15 and are available by calling 212-247-4982. The Ensemble Studio Theatre is located at 549 West 52nd Street. Each week, the Group will offer a special discount ticket of $10 to patrons who fit the residential area. Nov. 12-15 will be Hell's Kitchen and Midtown residents, Nov. 19-24 will be Up- or Down-Towners (below 34th or above 59th) and the final week celebrates the Out-Of-Towners (all other boroughs, out of state and across the world). Bring proof of residency to obtain the discount.
